At PK Beans we design for comfort of all things first! But in the world of creativity, imagination and play - designing playful prints, on trend styles and colourful mood boards is where the magic happens! We look to where the fashion trends are going and what is in store for us in upcoming seasons. Who better to give us a round up of summer trends directly from the runway than Fashion Stylist, Caprice Conners, who is also one of our bean besties! - xo, Traci
With the longer, warmer days ahead, this is the perfect time to start switching up you and your kids wardrobe from top to bottom. For yourself, that series of Zoom calls are likely still going in full force, but that doesn’t mean you won’t soon find yourself outdoors!
If you ask me, warmer days on a patio (even if it’s my condo porch) are good enough reason to get your summer style game pulled together pronto. Here’s what you’ll want to look for as you start rebuilding you and your kids outfits and taking up your style game for summer 2021.
Ruffles and Frills
*Versace Spring Summer 2021
It’s all about the details: Frills and ruffles will make even the most basic piece a stand out showstopper. We watched the age-old trend come to life this year through hit TV show’s such as Netflix’s Bridgerton. Ruffles and similar romantic textures swept the Spring / Summer 21’ runways and landed in the streets. From tiered dresses to ruffled embellished t-shirts, this is a charming trend we are embracing this season.
If you haven't noticed, PK Beans loves a good ruffle. The Little Lady Capris have the perfect amount of flounce and still have all the comfort and practicality of PK Beans! The jersey hem dances as she skips, hops, and plays!
*Trend Memo: Mellow Yellow
Pale yellow is one of the biggest colour trends for Spring/Summer 2021. Consider it on the opposite spectrum from the vibrant, neon yellow we saw trending last year. The sunny hue we’re currently seeing displays a softer, more subdued shade. For those who gravitate towards neutrals, consider introducing yellow into your look with a bold accessory such as a bracelet, handbag or fun shoe!
This season PK Beans brought a whole bunch of sunshine to you with on-trend pieces. Your kids deserve some brightness in their life given everything they have been through over the past year and a half. You can find bright yellows and happy hues for kids and babies at PK Beans right now!
After a long, heavy winter in quarantine, the last thing I want to wear are the all-black-and-grey outfits I’ve hibernated in throughout the cold months. Luckily, that’s not on the menu this season with striking, rich hues such as yellow, pink, purple and green parading down the fashion runways. Even dramatic silver and gold tones have been welcomed with loving, open arms. Bottom line: Embrace the option of bold rainbow hues hitting stores this summer and wear the ones that create that positive energy vibe for you. PK Beans has always been all about colour. You can find a range of bold hues in their Spring and Summer collection.
Sorbet Pastel Tones
*Versace resort 2021
Unlike previous bohemian trends (think gladiator sandals and an abundance of turquoise accessories) modern bohemian offers a slightly elevated spin on this longstanding trend. Think less leather Birkenstock vibes and a more amped up version of bohemian strappy ones, with elevated, chic drama. We are also seeing one shoulder styles, cut outs, an updated mix of embroidery and bold floral and geometric patterns. Fringe in floor-flowing lengths is also a big boho detail on garments and handbags.
You can easily embrace this fun trend for your kids by adding some bohemian style accessories such as paring a fringe bag to the Sunset Dress or boho up PK Beans' denim.
